Celebrating One Year of The Hotel Marketing 5.15
The first edition of The Hotel Marketing 5.15 landed in inboxes on June 23, 2025. One year and more than 50 weekly editions later, I've learned a tremendous amount about publishing a newsletter, connected with marketers across the industry, and become far more aware of what's happening in hospitality. I can usually tell you which companies are hiring, which roles tend to reopen every six months, where leadership turnover is happening, and the broader trends happening in hiring.

The newsletter began after three years of task force consulting as a way to stay connected with clients, share industry news, and build my professional network. Since then, my own career has shifted back to a resort marketing role, which has naturally changed how I think about the newsletter and where I invest my time.

As for what's next for The Hotel Marketing 5.15? I'm still deciding. Nothing is set in stone, but regardless of what the future holds, I'm grateful to everyone who has read, subscribed, shared feedback, and followed along over the past year.

Meet a Hotel Marketing 5.15 Reader: Jennifer Kasch
Jennifer Kasch is a hospitality marketing and sales professional based in San Diego, California, with experience across luxury and select service Marriott properties. She is also a reader of the Hotel Marketing 5.15, and we’ve had some great conversations over LinkedIn as she explores her future in hospitality. She has spent the past 3.5 years building expertise in both marketing and sales, and is passionate about continuing her career in hospitality marketing while learning from experienced professionals across hotel and agency teams.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has been recognized by leadership for her strong work ethic, outstanding performance, and collaborative approach to supporting both commercial and operational teams.

Jennifer began her hospitality marketing career at the 654-room Sheraton Grand Hotel Dubai, a five-star property featuring 474 guestrooms and suites along with 180 luxury serviced apartments. As part of a three-person in-house marketing team, she supported the property's restaurants, cafe, spa, rooftop pool, and bar through content creation, social media management, membership programs, influencer and vendor partnerships, budgeting, purchase orders, and marketing reporting.

Most recently, Jennifer worked at the 158-room Four Points by Sheraton Seattle and the 247-room Element by Westin Seattle. She joined the properties as a Sales Coordinator and was promoted to Dual Property Sales Manager, where she focused on group sales, event coordination, business development, and sales strategy for both proactive and existing group business. She held this role from January 2025 through May 2026.

Jennifer is currently seeking her next opportunity in hospitality marketing in the San Diego area. Connect with her on LinkedIn.

What is the 5.15

Leading luxury hotel marketing across resorts and task force marketing roles over the past 15+ years led me to launch The Hotel Marketing 5.15 in 2025 to help keep clients up to date on hospitality marketing news and activations. I am always available for coffee chats, networking, and to discuss project-based assignments.

Based on a communication method developed by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, the 5.15 is a weekly format designed to synthesize key insights in 15 minutes or less and be read in five minutes. This newsletter applies the same principle to hotel marketing: concise, actionable trends and opportunities curated for industry professionals.

This newsletter may contain affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
